Monday 2/6/12

Happy Monday to ya!!!
Watched the super bowl lastnight with the hubby...glad the Giants won. Personally, I'm a Pittsburgh fan...go Steelers...but out of the 2 teams that went to the super bowl this year, I liked the Giants over the Patriots. I like to sit and watch basketball too, even though I don't follow any particular team. Pittsburgh so needs a basketball team.

My sewing machine hasn't arrived yet. It was mailed parcel post, so I'd imagine it will be hear some time this week. I need to pick up some extra bobbins for it. I like to pre-wind lots of bobbins so they are ready when I need them. I just open up my little bobbin container and grab whatever color I need...fast and easy.

We added a few punch needle patterns to the site over the weekend. I've been having requests to do punch needle patterns, so I took the plunge. I'll add the pics here to the blog later...plus I've got 2 more punch needle patterns in the works.

Friday morning...

Yay...it's Friday!!! Hubs made it through his first week at his new position at work. He's brought work home every single night...and I'm sure he'll have work to do over the weekend as well...ick. We don't have kids...just 2 cats...and I am so not used to him be'n home and us not spend'n time together. He says that after this calms down...probably a few months...he won't have as much to do at home. Right now they are setting up a new account for a new client, and they are starting everything at the bottom...nothing in place yet.

Tonight after work, hubby and I are going to see my nieces last home basketball game of the year. She plays girl's basketball...as well as soccer...but cheers during basketball season for the boys team. She is also...are ya ready for this...the very first girl on the high school boys football team in school history...she's the kicker. She excelled so much at soccer her freshman year, that the football coaches teased her and said you should be our kicker. Well...my niece takes a challenge seriously...as you can see...and she went out for the team. They didn't pull any punches and put her through the same practices and workouts at the boys...and she did BETTER than a lot of the boys. This past season she was even featured on ONN where she kicked the winning field goal for her team. Here's a nice article about her online...can ya tell I'm the proud aunt...lol...!!!

Happy Thursday!!!

Had an appointment yesterday at 3:00 and didn't get a chance to post here on my blog. Met up with my mom and sister before my appointment and we went to lunch. There's a Panera at the mall near my parents...so we all went for a bowl of yummy cheese soup and a hunk of their french bread.

Today I've been in my office all day...except for 20 minutes on the treadmill this morning and a couple of snack breaks. Get'n my biz taxes done this weekend and trying to get everything tallied up and organized. I've been finding myself day dreaming out the windows at times though...lol. This summer will be our first one in the new house, and I'm so look'n forward to getting out in the yard and landscaping. There is some minimal landscaping in the yard...mostly bushes and hedges...but it so needs some flower beds and prim decorations. So I sit in here and stare out the windows and picture all the neat things I'd like to do.

Not sure where the time has gone today, but it's already after 5 pm. Hubs will be home soon from work and I haven't even started...or thought about for that matter...anything for dinner. Whatever it is, it will be quick and simple...I think I've got some chicken in the freezer.

New Sewing Machine...

Purchased a new sewing machine on ebay last night. Well...not exactly new. It's used...but new for me. I already have 2 sewing machines, but I just don't like the way either one of them sews. I've been wanting a new one for awhile...check ebay frequently...and this one finally came up at reasonable price that would fit in my budget.

My other 2 machines...
#1 is an oldie...a 1950's singer that was left to me by my great aunt when she passed away. It's cast metal...assuming iron...and can sew front, back, and a zig zag. My mother LOVES this machine, and I think I'm just going to give it to her. She learned to sew on an identical machine that her mother had, and thinks it the best thing in town. Me, I can never get the dern thing adjusted right and always, always, always have tension problems.

My other machine is a brother...it is a disney model that does the machine embroidery as well. Bought it at WalMart several years back, so it's not a top of the line model. As far as the machine embroidery goes, it does a lovely job...no complaints considering it wasn't an expensive machine. For everyday sewing though, it too, does not float my boat. The thread cartridge is a drawback for me, as it only will hold a certain size spool. I can't always find that size and it leaves me high and dry until my local shop can get it back in.

The machine I bought...which I'm in love with...is a Pfaff varimatic. I learned to sew on my mom's Pfaff, and for me, I so much prefer Pfaff over the other brands. If I could afford a brand new Pfaff...oh my...I'd so be on that...lol. But alas, those babies are expensive, so a used one is perfectly fine with me. I'll take it to my local service guy when it arrives and he'll make sure it's all tuned up, adjusted, and oiled for me. Can't wait til it gets here!!!

My mom will be happy with my purchase too...she's been wanting my old Singer, and now I can surprise her with it. I've been telling her for years that we could swap...her Pfaff for my old Singer...but she never would bite...lol.

It's Monday...time to start the week :-)

Thanks for all the replies to my last post about our stitchery patterns. I really needed to hear some positive, and I'm gonna look into some solutions for the problem.

Hubby started his new job today. He's with the same company...just a different client. His schedule changed too, and wowsers...it's gonna take some time for me to adjust. He used to work four 10 hour shifts per week...with 3 days off. Now he's back to monday thru friday with weekends off. His company runs 24/7 and he was midshift before. He worked until 1 am, and we were never in bed before 4am...total night owls. Now he's got a morning shift and I'm trying to adjust to not living like a vampire anymore...lol.

I managed to have my butt outta bed by 8:30 this morning...turned in last night around midnight...that's way early for me. Of course I couldn't fall asleep and laid there for a couple of hours...while hubs was on his side of the bed sawing logs. I'm thankful that he adjusted right away though...I'd hate to think of him starting a new position and going in there with no sleep. As for me though...good thing I had my iphone...so I wasn't bored in my state of insomnia. I think I played a zillion games of moxie2, then finally fell asleep while tipping my neighbors on bakery story...lol.

Trying to get my thoughts in order...ughhh

Feel'n a bit brain foggy today. Holidays are over, it's winter...gloomy and ugly outside...and I'm already looking forward to Spring. I finally got my final craft mall booth closed up last month, and now I need to get cranking on some pattern ideas.

I have some stitchery pattern ideas in my head, but I'm just not sure where I want to head with the stitchery patterns. I've always had the philosophy that doing stitchery pattern "sheets" keeps the price low, everyone can afford them, and they are faster to produce. Gotta say though, several times a week, I get the email that says "I have the picture for stitchery pattern # so and so...but I need the directions and thread color list". I had one lady in particular that flat out told me that her daughter printed off stitchery pattern pics from our site all the time, and came up with her own colors. But she...the mom...wasn't as creative, and would be appreciative if I could just email her the colors to the pictures she printed off. How do you respond to someone who just stole from you...let me tell ya...it's hard and I bite my tongue every single time. I politely tell them that the colors are included with the purchase of the pattern and leave it at that...meanwhile I'm wanting to jump through the screen and scream "are you kidding me????". You just emailed the person you stole from, and now you want more...duh!!!

I hate not to make stitchery patterns anymore, but part of me is just tired of the stealing and the gutsy notes and emails. Even if I don't respond to all your comments, I'd really like some input on this. Please leave your thoughts and opinions...I'd really appreciate it.
